SAN JOSE, Calif.--May 10, 2005--PayPal today announced that it has received the People's Voice Award for Best Financial Services site given as part of the Ninth Annual Webby Awards.
The Webby People's Voice Award was selected by more then 200,000 users that cast their ballots for their own personal favorite sites among nominees in 60 categories. PayPal was selected as a nominee by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, from sites based in all 50 U.S. states and more than 40 countries.
"We are especially thrilled to win the People's Voice Award, since we were chosen by the most important judges -- the people that use PayPal every day," said Dana Stalder, vice president of marketing and business operations for PayPal. "This recognition is indicative of PayPal's success in making the online buying and selling experience seamless and simpler for our users."
PayPal will be honored at the Webby Awards event in New York City on June 6 at Gotham Hall. More than 400 leaders from the media, advertising, business, technology, entertainment, politics and the arts fields will attend.
Hailed as the "online Oscars" by Time magazine, The Webby Awards' finalists and winners are determined by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization.
"The 9th Annual People's Voice Awards winners provide both a remarkable snapshot of digital life today and a powerful sneak preview of where we are going next," said Tiffany Shlain, creative director and chairperson of The Webby Awards. "We're proud to shine a spotlight on outstanding sites like PayPal."
