Building a New Mobile Shopping Experience

HoneyInnovation

Honey Smart Shopping Assistant

Today is a big day at Honey. We launched our mobile app, the Honey Smart Shopping Assistant, on the Apple App Store. The app will let you browse, discover, and buy from your favorite stores in one place – eliminating the need to use multiple shopping apps, so you only have to checkout once. It will also find, test, and apply coupon codes to your purchase, like our desktop extension.

The Honey Smart Shopping Assistant will be available to Honey members who have an iPhone running on iOS 10 and above (with the Android version coming soon). We’ll be phasing the release, providing initial access to a small group of members, while others will be placed on a waitlist and notified via email when they’re able to log in.

So, why a phased release? When we build things at Honey, we like to build them the right way. Our app goes beyond what we offer through our browser extension by delivering a completely new shopping experience for mobile. Building it involved new technology and new ways of thinking. We decided on a phased release so that we can test the app, ensure a reliable experience, and then iterate based on real user feedback. This approach allows us to understand how people are using and interacting with the app and adjust or improve the things that matter most to our members.

We think of this initial launch as the starting line. We’ll be regularly releasing updates and continuing to add users as we stabilize and improve upon the app.

When we started Honey, we set out to change online shopping. That’s an ambitious goal and to accomplish it we need to build ambitious products, which will take some time to perfect. We have big plans for the Honey Smart Shopping Assistant, and this is just the beginning, so stay tuned.
