As communities across the country begin reopening and we start to ease back into visiting brick-and-mortar stores, we’ll likely see that many of the new shopping habits we adopted, like contactless payments and curbside pickup, are here to stay. Although many consumers started using digital payment options to stay safe and minimize contact at checkout, many are planning to continue using these methods because they make paying in-store a breeze.
Over the past year, retailers have shifted to meet this demand for digital payments. More than half of consumers surveyed shared that a retailer’s digital payment offerings impact their willingness to shop in their stores1.
With PayPal QR Codes, customers at Boston Public Market can simply “wave their
phone in front of the code and be on their way.
That’s why last year, we introduced a new, touch-free way to pay in-store through QR code payments. Checking out with PayPal and Venmo QR codes allows customers to pay for lots of things they want, however they want, and makes the shift from shopping online to checking out in-store seamless. No more handling cash, touching keypads, or signing receipts. All customers need to do is simply open their PayPal or Venmo app, click the “Scan” button, then select the “Show to Pay” option.
This way, customers have a safe and secure payment option that keeps their money at your fingertips with the digital wallet they know and trust. PayPal and Venmo QR codes can be used to pay at major retailers like CVS Pharmacy and hundreds of thousands of other businesses nationwide, including local merchants across the country like Red’s Best in Boston, Wylde Center in Decatur, GA and Pro SUP Shop in Marina del Rey.
Plus, for a limited time, when customers use PayPal or Venmo QR codes to pay at CVS locations across the country they can earn $10 cash back on their first purchase of $20 or more2.
