PayPal and its Customers Raise $1.65M for LA Wildfire Relief as Venmo Announces Additional Support for FireAid
Following the overwhelming destruction caused by the Los Angeles wildfires, people and organizations have been rallying around those affected to provide supplies, donations, and aid.
In mid-January, PayPal pledged to match customer donations (up to $1,000 USD per user) made through our giving campaign up to $1 million through February 12. Contributions to this campaign are aiding charitable organizations that are responding to the disaster and providing essential services to the affected communities and first responders.
As of January 27, PayPal customers have donated more than $825,000 to help with the relief efforts, resulting in a total of $1.65 million raised including PayPal’s matching funds. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our customers who made contributions.
An evening of music and solidarity
To further the company’s support of the recovery efforts, Venmo is proud to be a partner of the upcoming FireAid benefit concerts to support the rebuilding of Los Angeles communities devastated by the wildfires.
More than 25 artists will participate in the benefit concerts on Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum in Los Angeles. 100% of the proceeds will go to support relief efforts and all venue and ticketing services fees waived.
You can donate directly to FireAid with Venmo to help rebuild communities. Venmo is waiving all processing fees and contributions will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California.
