This week, PayPal and Global Citizen announced the 2026 class of the Global Citizen and PayPal Small Business Impact Awards. What started as a five-winner pilot last year has grown to 15 entrepreneurs this year, each receiving a $20,000 grant plus hands-on programmatic support to help them scale.

The winners are small business owners tackling some of the toughest problems in their communities, from poverty to environmental resilience.

“We're proud to support and invest in the ideas and people solving some of society's most pressing challenges,” says Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at PayPal. “As we strive toward our 2030 goal to support 25 million people and small businesses with the resources, skills, and training they need to thrive in the digital economy, we've expanded the Small Business Impact Awards to celebrate the businesses leading the way.”

Liza Henshaw, President of Global Citizen, echoed that momentum.

"Ending extreme poverty takes exactly the kind of innovation exemplified by these 15 entrepreneurs,” Henshaw said. “Our 2026 grantees are proof that the people closest to a problem are often the ones building the smartest solutions. Investing in small business owners like these results in real, lasting change, and we're proud to grow this program alongside PayPal for its second year."
