Being a Customer Champion = Delivering Choice & Opportunity
As the curtain lifts on this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, I was very pleased to be able to talk about PayPal’s “Customer Champion” focus in front of some of the most innovative and brightest minds in mobile, payments and commerce. 
In my keynote, I highlighted PayPal’s commitment to working with many of our mobile and payments partners to bring new innovations to market that will change the face of commerce and democratize financial services for billions around the world.
Mobile is breaking down barriers. Nowhere is that more evident than among the 95,000 attendees here at Mobile World Congress. Everyone across the industry is scrambling to connect with customers in new ways. In my remarks, I explained PayPal’s evolution from a safe and secure way to make and receive payments online to a full payments platform that is the operating system for digital commerce.
PayPal is the only global, neutral third-party platform exclusively focused on mobile and digital payments. This allows us to think more boldly about how people will manage and move their money and create new services to help them do exactly that. Since just the beginning of this year, PayPal has:
It doesn’t matter whether consumers are transacting online, in a mobile application, in a physical store or in an entirely new context, no company is better positioned to deliver the benefits of the transformation of money to consumers and merchants than PayPal.
Even with our success, there is so much more we can do – not only as an independent digital payments company – but also in partnership with the ecosystem of mobile network operators, social networks, payment networks and financial institutions.
At MWC, we detailed how we are extending our product innovation by partnering with some of the world’s leading companies, Vodafone, América Móvil, Facebook and others, to move to a digital commerce world that delivers new experiences for customers. At the end of the day, being a customer champion means giving consumers choice…to pay how and where they want, in new ways. And that’s what we’re delivering.
We want to work with more partners who share our vision to bring this to life. That may mean organizations who have traditionally looked at each other as competitors will need to work together. We are very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, but what I’m most proud of is being a part of the New PayPal – a company that embraces the values of innovation and collaboration, and is focused on improving the lives of our customers. Success will not be achieved alone. This is just the start, and I look forward to collaborating, partnering and innovating with organizations that share our vision to make our financial systems better, safer and faster.
