First Lady Announces PayPal’s Support for Let Girls Learn
Last night, First Lady Michelle Obama announced new commitments by companies and organizations, including PayPal, to support adolescent girls’ education. As part of the
United State of Women Summit dinner, held at the U.S. Department of State, Mrs. Obama applauded the new commitments by leading organizations that total more than $20 Million to provide over 62 million girls around the world, who are out of school, with the opportunity to attain an education. These efforts are part of the
Let Girls Learn initiative that the First Lady has been spearheading since 2015.
In her announcement, she noted that the Peace Corp’s Let Girls Learn Fund will be among the featured charities in PayPal’s Back to School campaign as part of an effort to raise awareness and encourage millions of U.S. users to support educational needs here and around the world. In addition to encouraging customers in the U.S. to donate to important causes like Let Girls Learn, PayPal will cover all processing costs for the campaign, and add an extra 1% to each donation, ensuring that 101% of every gift made by our users reaches the causes they support.
