Getting Deals at the World’s Biggest Global Shopping Events

As of November 27, 2022, Free Shipping on Us is no longer available. Customers looking for other shopping benefits and ways to save can take advantage of a range of features in the PayPal app. More information can be found here.

For years, bargain shoppers around the world have looked towards the deals that U.S. merchants offer on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to snap up bargains that were primarily targeted at U.S. consumers.

With online retail growing and payment providers like PayPal making it secure and convenient to shop globally, consumers are now starting to take advantage of deals beyond the traditional holidays and their own backyards. If they know when to shop, U.S. consumers can take advantage of other international shopping holidays that are emerging around the world.

Here are two examples:

Click Frenzy is Australia’s 24-hour online shopping event on the third Tuesday of November and it is gaining traction, with more than 300 participating retailers and sales exceeding $200 million last year.

But the Mac daddy of shopping opportunities is Singles’ Day, celebrated on November 11. It is a relatively new ecommerce holiday in China – but it’s quickly become the world’s biggest shopping day. And while China may be the prime stomping ground for Singles’ Day sellers, word is spreading among consumers around the globe that deals can be found online for 11.11.

China is one of the most popular destinations for PayPal’s U.S. consumers to shop internationally. Starting today through November 11, PayPal customers in the U.S. can take advantage of fantastic Singles Days offers from a range of Chinese merchants and get up to 85 percent off electronics and 50 percent off other holiday gifts. Plus, by shopping Singles Day deals with PayPal, one lucky U.S. shopper will also be entered for a chance to win $1,111. Check out PayPal’s Singles Day site for more details![1]

The traditional model for holiday shopping has changed forever as you can see from our recent holiday predictions blog post. Recent data indicates that retailers will offer some of their best discounts the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) and some retailers are already starting their Black Friday deals. With an eye to global deals, savvy U.S. shoppers can find bargains from around the world and get them delivered in time for the holidays. And, if for any reason there’s an issue, shoppers can get their eligible return shipping costs reimbursed[2] when shopping with PayPal.
