As we enter the biggest shopping season of the year, people are starting to consider the shops they will visit and purchases they will make. Here are some ways merchants can make their offerings more enticing with a philanthropic tie:
- Help the Nonprofit Sector Make History: Make #GivingTuesday a global movement by by encouraging donations through your social media streams and websites. What’s great is that PayPal doesn’t charge fees for contributions made through the PayPal Giving Fund site – 100 percent of donations go to charity.
- Initiate You Own Cause Promotion: Team up with charities local to your business and encourage shoppers to make a donation after they complete a purchase. Be sure to check state laws that may apply to cause-related marketing promotion.
- Partner Directly With #GivingTuesday: Become an official partner of #GivingTuesday by registering on their website. Signing up is free and will enable the organization to track its own progress worldwide.
#GivingTuesday 2014 raised 66 percent more over all through PayPal, and 101 percent more through mobile payments in the U.S. and Canada than the previous year’s event. The largest mobile donation made on #GivingTuesday last year was $10,000.
This year, you can join the global #GivingTuesday movement on December 1st by donating, volunteering your time or hosting an activity in your community to give back. And don't forget to kick off your own personal holiday giving season by donating to your favorite charity.
