During this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, it was inspiring to see such enthusiasm and passion growing in the mobile space – particularly with
mobile commerce and payments.
PayPal had an exciting couple of days at this year’s MWC.
We announced new partnerships and global product updates that showcased how we are enabling a faster, simpler and more inclusive way for people to manage and move money, whether online, in-app, in-store or in
new contexts, such as in email and social shares.
Our CEO, Dan Schulman,
delivered a keynote on PayPal’s commitment to working with many of our mobile and payments partners to bring new innovations to market that will change the face of commerce and democratize financial services for billions of people around the world. I also had the opportunity to join a
lively panel discussion on trends across the global mobile commerce landscape that are driving significant benefits for both merchants and consumers. My PayPal colleagues also participated in discussions on the
digital money market and
contextual commerce.

During the show,
we also announced new partnerships with leading telecom providers – Vodafone, Telcel and Claro – which will put safe, fast and easy payment solutions in the hands of hundreds of millions of customers around the world.
It was also interesting to see the innovations centered around virtual reality technology. Many throughout the exhibit halls of the conference showcased how VR will span across new contexts.
This year, PayPal also hosted the ‘New Money’ Canaletes Networking Garden to give MWC attendees an opportunity to get away from the busy show floor. We provided live musical entertainment, networking happy hours and a
new redesigned PayPal app product experience for attendees to demo. We also commissioned Spanish artist Martin Brown to create a beautiful mosaic in the garden that will now have a home at our PayPal Spain office.

We were pleased to share the news of our new PayPal mobile app and the expansion of our
One Touch online and mobile checkout experience into more than 140 markets, along with our exciting new partnerships. As this year’s MWC theme reminded us: ‘Mobile is everything’ – and we will continue to listen to our customers and deliver the best, mobile-first, product solutions to meet their needs.
