Latin America’s proximity to the U.S. makes for a lot of cultural similarities and shared experiences. But when it comes to PayPal’s business, the LATAM region exhibits many regional and cultural differences, and these influence the way Latin American consumers use PayPal products. This has led business leaders in the emerging LATAM market to create their own innovative and resourceful strategies to connect with their own local markets, and sometimes this means they leapfrog more advanced markets. In fact, it is expected that some new technologies will gain adoption in LATAM markets much faster than their adoption rates in the U.S. For example, more Latin Americans will access the Internet on their mobile devices than on their computers, and millions of Latin Americans – unlike Americans – will never even access the Internet via a computer.
