PayPal creates 150 new jobs in Dublin to support further growth
PayPal, the leading online payments provider, today announced 150 new jobs at its European operations and customer service headquarters in Blanchardstown, Dublin. The new roles will support PayPal’s fast growing European business, which achieved $1 billion in revenues for the first time in 2010.

PayPal is looking for full-time and part-time positions in customer service and merchant services for individuals fluent in English and a second European language. More information about these opportunities can found at www.paypaljobsireland.com. More than 1,200 people already work at PayPal’s European Centre of Excellence in Blanchardstown, providing operational and customer support to consumers and businesses across Europe.

Louise Phelan, senior director for global customer services & EU merchant services, PayPal European operations, said; “PayPal’s continuing success story means that we need to expand our excellent team in Dublin for the fourth time in the last two years. We have gone from strength to strength since the Taoiseach officially opened our European Centre of Excellence in March 2009. I look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to our Centre of Excellence here at Blanchardstown. I would also like to thank the IDA for the support we have received from it over the years.”

Commenting on the announcement, Barry O’Leary, CEO IDA Ireland said, ‘I am delighted that PayPal continues to go from strength to strength. The creation of a further 150 jobs, in addition to the more than 200 jobs it has announced in the previous two years, is great news both locally and nationally and underlines Ireland’s continuing ability to attract high-calibre Foreign Direct Investment. PayPal’s investment represents a key endorsement from one of the world’s leading online companies, and builds on Ireland’s reputation as the internet capital of Europe. I would like to congratulate the management and staff of PayPal on their latest achievement and I look forward to building on IDA’s close relationship with the company as it expands its Irish operations.

PayPal’s European operation centre opened in Dublin in 2003. Since then the number of staff has increased from just 25 to more than 1,200 today. In 2009 PayPal invested €15 million in opening a European Centre of Excellence in Blanchardstown, with the support of IDA. The Dublin centre manages all direct customer contact for PayPal’s businesses across Europe.
