At
PayPal, we’re focused on building payment and commerce tools that connect merchants and consumers in unique ways that are only enabled by our two-sided network. This is critically important as consumers and merchants are connecting in new contexts and are looking to easily buy the things they want and need, while helping businesses grow in an increasingly competitive retail landscape. Today, we’re excited to roll out PayPal Marketing Solutions -- new marketing and analytics tools that will help businesses better understand their customers and create engaging shopping experiences that help increase sales.
PayPal Marketing Solutions is designed to help businesses increase sales through greater visibility into their prospects and customers across a variety of platforms, devices, & operating systems. The Shopper Insights feature includes aggregated and anonymous information about the behaviors and preferences of PayPal shoppers on a merchant’s site. This includes things like: how many shoppers are mobile shoppers; how many shop for big ticket vs small ticket items; how a particular merchant site attracts customers compared to other similar sites and soon, actionable recommendations on how to help turn prospects into customers and customers into loyal and engaged patrons.
In addition, we are giving merchants the ability to directly engage with PayPal’s more than 200 million customers at the beginning of their shopping journey, through our Smart Incentives feature. By enabling merchants to display PayPal promotional messages around features like
PayPal Credit and
One Touch acceptance on their home and product pages -- well before the checkout page -- consumers know at the point of entering a site that they can get financing for their purchases and skip logging at merchant sites that have One Touch enabled. This is designed to greatly improve the likelihood that a consumer will complete a sale.
The Smart Incentives and Shopper Insights tools are also available to merchants who use PayPal payment processing, PayPal Credit, and other PayPal solutions as part of third party ecommerce platforms and apps. For example, merchants with online stores powered by
BigCommerce are able to add the
PayPal Marketing Solutions app to auto-enable PayPal Credit banners on strategic pages throughout their shopping experience, reinforced by the presence of the PayPal Credit button when their customers are ready to check out. Brent Bellm, CEO for BigCommerce, shared, “Through PayPal’s new app, merchants have the ability to let shoppers know immediately that consumer will have a seamless purchasing experience and that financing options are available, allowing them to browse and buy with confidence even during higher spending seasons, such as the holidays. Shoppers benefit from more time to pay for purchases, and merchants still get paid in full at the point of purchase. The insights provided through the app also offer merchants valuable information they can use to further enhance and promote their online stores.”
This is just another example of how PayPal is giving businesses the tools they need to help them better understand their customers, create better commerce experiences, grow their businesses and more effectively contend in an increasingly challenging retail environment.
Small and mid-size businesses in a rich retail environment are the backbone of our economy. However, over the past few years, it’s been harder and harder for them to compete -- as market share is continuously consolidating around some of the very largest ecommerce giants. By giving merchants the tools to better understand and access new customers and make their customers aware from the point of entering a site that they will have access to financing and easy checkout, we’re helping drive better experiences and increased sales.
We’re rolling this out in the U.S. starting today, and will look to roll out additional functionality and expand globally soon.
