Hurricane Dorian Relief: How You Can Help
Hurricane Dorian has ravaged parts of the Bahamas, taking more than 30 lives and impacting hundreds of thousands more people. The country has experienced severe flooding, loss of power, damage to infrastructure and housing, and much more. On Thursday, the storm made landfall in South Carolina and is slowly making its way up the Atlantic Coast. As of Friday morning, the national weather service described Dorian as a category 2 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds at 90 mph and some areas receiving as much as 15 inches of rain. Some 441,000 people evacuated their homes ahead of Dorian, a number similar to the evacuations for Hurricane Florence last year.

Communities throughout the area are seeing catastrophic impact and the full devastation of the hurricane will only be known in the days and weeks to come.

We are all thinking about those who have been impacted by this powerful natural disaster in both the Bahamas and the U.S., and thank the brave women, men and organizations on the ground working around the clock to provide aid to those in need.

Everyone at PayPal offers our emotional support to the victims of the hurricane, and together with PayPal Giving Fund we have launched a disaster relief campaign to support organizations working in the Bahamas and in the U.S. PayPal is covering all processing costs, ensuring that 100% of your donation will support charities providing relief and recovery efforts. Through the PayPal Gives program, PayPal will also match donations made by a PayPal employee, according to terms of the program.

We know that the need for aid will be vast and recovery will be long. In supporting agencies that are providing relief on the ground, we are bringing together the PayPal community to make a difference in supporting those affected during this difficult time.

Your generosity made a profound difference last year, when wildfires swept through parts of California, when Hurricane Florence touched down in parts of North and South Carolina, and in the wake of many other natural disasters. We’re hoping you will, once again, join us in helping the people and communities impacted by this latest natural disaster.

We’re extremely grateful to anyone who is able to help.
