PayPal to Expand Operations Facility in La Vista

SAN JOSE, Calif. & OMAHA, Neb.--Oct. 20, 2005--PayPal today announced plans to expand its La Vista, Neb. operations center, adding a new building in La Vista's Southport East Business Park. The new building is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2006 and will total more than 125,000 square feet.

"PayPal has experienced phenomenal growth since we opened our doors just a few years ago, and our team in La Vista continues to expand to support this growth," said Ryan Downs, vice president of worldwide operations for PayPal. "With its highly skilled and diverse workforce, it's clear that the Omaha area is a great home for PayPal, and we're proud to support the continued growth of our local community."

"I could not be happier for our state or for the future of the knowledge-based economy in Nebraska," Gov. Dave Heineman said. "PayPal is a wonderful corporate citizen and a model of the innovative companies we're helping to grow with the Nebraska Advantage jobs-creation package. This is extraordinary news."

Located at the intersection of 126th Street and I-80, PayPal's current facility opened in 2003 with about 500 employees. Today, PayPal has grown to well over 1,000 employees in La Vista dedicated to PayPal's customer service, risk operations, payment processing and sales. PayPal is planning to add about 600 additional employees in La Vista in the next year, including merchant support specialists, risk management experts, and experienced sales agents.

"PayPal's growth in Omaha is a great example of the collaborative effort between the public and private sectors in Nebraska," said Mike Fahey, Mayor of Omaha. "We're proud that PayPal recognizes the advantages of living and working in Greater Omaha, and we congratulate them on this bold expansion and investment in our community."

La Vista Mayor Harold Anderson said, "PayPal is a great corporate citizen, and we are absolutely delighted that they chose to expand in La Vista."

David Brown, president of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, added, "When PayPal staked its claim in Omaha nearly five years ago, the company made a strong statement about its commitment to our community. Today's announcement puts a major exclamation point on that statement, as PayPal's new project significantly expands its Omaha campus."

PayPal will work closely with the City of La Vista, the Sarpy County Economic Development Corporation, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, real estate developer The Lund Company, building designer and general contractor Workstage, and other local contractors to complete construction.

PayPal was recently named one of the top five best places to work in Omaha for 2005, by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
