Making a Difference for Our Customers and Communities at First-Ever PayPal Impact Day

From July 25 to 27 PayPal team members in person at 37 sites around the world and remotely came together to pitch in and donate their time and effort at the first-ever PayPal Impact Day. As a company, we powered down our computers and powered up our collective impact to support small businesses and the communities where we live and work worldwide.

At its core, PayPal Impact Day was about community. We connected with each other, we supported the small businesses that are our valuable customers, and we partnered with community organizations to help those who need it. And together, we made a meaningful difference.

In total, approximately 16,800 employees came together to lend a hand on PayPal Impact Day. To enable this impact, PayPal purchased sought-after goods and supplies from 140 small businesses around the world, which were then packed by employees into more than 90,000 kits (and counting) and delivered to those in need in our communities. The support went to help meet the needs of more than 100 impact partners. Recipients include young people who need school supplies, unhoused individuals who need food and hygiene supplies, and senior citizens who need items to brighten their day.

“We help small businesses around the world,” said PayPal President and CEO Alex Chriss, “And today is a day where we get to give back to our local communities. Because it’s the communities where we live and where we work that matter the most.”

It was a sentiment that was echoed across the PayPal employee community, with feelings of accomplishment, good will, and community among the primary responses from those involved.

“I really appreciate everyone on your team and what they are doing,” said Tareq Hadhad, Founder and CEO of small business Peace by Chocolate, in a fireside chat recorded for PayPal Impact Day. “[They are] waking up every single day believing they are making an impact, and really making a difference in the lives of many people around them.”
