On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, thousands of PayPal employees around the world stepped away from their desks to give their time to participate in the second annual PayPal Impact Day. From packing essential kits to mentoring small business owners and volunteering with nonprofits, teams came together in service, united by a shared belief in doing good, together. This year’s Impact Day built on the momentum of 2024’s launch event, showing how the PayPal employee community can create a lasting global impact while deepening relationships and strengthening our communities.
“From purchasing goods directly from local SMBs to package and redistribute through nonprofit partners, to advising aspiring entrepreneurs and leveraging our business expertise to support nonprofit organizations, PayPal Impact Day is our opportunity to reflect on our mission and live our values,” said PayPal President and CEO Alex Chriss.
PayPal Impact Day by the Numbers
Together, PayPal employees around the world came together:
- More than 11,000 employees participated worldwide at 37 sites and employee communities
- 100 nonprofit partners were engaged across regions, with more than 47,000 beneficiaries
- Products were purchased from 350 small business partners.
These numbers reflect more than just scale – they highlight the collective energy and compassion of a global workforce dedicated to making a difference. And all employees were invited to join, including executive leadership, with CFO Jamie Miller participating in New York, CTO Srini Venkatesan participating in Austin, and Global Chief Risk Officer Aaron Webster taking part in Mexico City, among other leaders, to help pack kits and talk to employees about the impact small business and giving back.
Making a real difference
“This marks our second annual event and it’s an important milestone for us as a company,” said Alex. “We came together as a global community united by a shared mission to drive meaningful, lasting change for our customers, our partners, and the communities we serve.
“At its core, it reflects the principles we hold ourselves accountable to as an organization: putting people first, putting our customers at the heart of everything we do, and winning together, as one team,” he continued. “Inspired by these principles and our mission to revolutionize commerce globally, PayPal Impact Day is a unique opportunity to spend the day channeling our time, passion, and expertise into making a real difference.”
Partnering for optimal impact
At PayPal’s headquarters in San Jose, California, the company partnered with a range of businesses to source goods for packed kits to deliver to partner nonprofit organizations such as We Hope, Operation Care and Comfort, and Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, among others. Many small businesses were also engaged on-site for the activities and social elements of the day.
Nana Joes, a gluten-free, organic granola company based in San Francisco. Owner and chef Michelle Pusateri joined Alex on-site to discuss the value of giving back, mentorship, and guidance to small businesses. Michelle herself knows well this impact, having received mentorship at a critical moment for her business.
“It changed everything,” said Michelle. “I was only focused on recipe development, and Gwendolyn really helped me focus on the leadership aspect, the financial aspect, and the actual product itself.
“Pulling up a seat for somebody else at the table is super important,” said Michelle. “I mentor one to two businesses a year, and I think that’s really important; to be able to support other entrepreneurs to not make the same mistakes that you made. There is room on the shelf for all of us, and you have to make an impact in a positive way in your community.”
Continuing the journey
PayPal Impact Day has proven to be a successful moment for the company’s employees to come together and give their time to a good cause, creating positive impact for businesses and communities. By continuing to work hand-in-hand with nonprofit and business partners, PayPal is helping build stronger, more resilient communities around the globe.
