PayPal Teams Up with Financial Institutions and (RED) for Global Pandemic Relief
  • PayPal welcomes Chase and Wells Fargo to the (RED)EEM initiative, which already includes American Express and Citi.
  • This initiative means eligible PayPal users can use certain credit card rewards to make donations with PayPal’s Pay with Rewards that will support organizations working to ensure equitable access to testing, treatment, and vaccines in the world's poorest countries.

Throughout the pandemic, PayPal has worked to help our customers and their communities navigate the impacts of COVID-19, aiming to provide easy ways for them to give to those in need around the world.

(RED)EEM Initiative

This included being one of the very first non-bank lenders approved to distribute Paycheck Protection Program loans to the small businesses we serve; enabling small business customers to defer payments on their business loans; and launching the Vaccine Access Fund in partnership with Uber and Walgreens that enabled customers to donate to vaccine access efforts to help connect people without transportation to COVID-19 vaccination sites.

Today, PayPal is excited to welcome Chase and Wells Fargo to the (RED)EEM initative, which already includes American Express and Citi. This initiative means eligible PayPal users can use certain credit card rewards to make donations with PayPal’s Pay with Rewards that will support organizations working to ensure equitable access to testing, treatment, and vaccines in the world's poorest countries.

Every cent raised benefits The Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism and the COVAX Advance Market Commitment. The Global Fund is a nonprofit dedicated to fighting AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and is currently helping COVID-19 relief efforts amongst some of the most vulnerable populations. COVAX’s AMC is a public-private partnership helping vaccinate half of the world's children against some of the deadliest diseases.

Donate with Rewards

PayPal’s Pay with Rewards enables customers to use rewards for eligible purchases at millions of online stores that accept PayPal. This feature was expanded to enable customers with eligible credit cards to donate their rewards to support any of thousands of charities enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund. Reward balances are automatically converted to an equivalent dollar donation amount. In addition to donating rewards, consumers can also donate directly here.

To link your eligible credit card rewards to your PayPal account, follow these steps in the PayPal app:

  • In the PayPal app, go to your Wallet and click on the Rewards tab.
  • Click on the ‘+’ icon next to the “Credit card rewards” section.
  • Click “Get started.”
  • Choose the reward program from the list shown.
  • Click on “Start Linking.”
  • Follow the prompts to add the card information.
  • Once done, click on “Link Card.”

Once your card is linked, your available reward balance will appear in your Wallet. You’ll also have the option to Pay with Rewards for eligible purchases when you check out with PayPal.
