Today, we’re excited to reveal an updated look and feel to the Venmo app. Venmo customers will have access to a brand new, intuitive Venmo experience, that makes it easier to manage their money, connect with their friends and community, and explore and discover new features in the app. The updated Venmo app also offers expanded privacy controls and gives customers more ways to use Venmo to send and receive payments for goods and services.
The new look and feel is the first step in bringing expanded functionality to our wallet in order to help our customers do more with Venmo daily.
A New Way to Navigate to What Matters Most
An Updated Social Feed
Venmo has always been social at its core, designed to be a place where friends can split and share payments and experiences. As part of our ongoing efforts to continually evolve the Venmo platform, while staying true to the heart of the Venmo experience, we are removing the global feed, and the friends feed is now the only social feed that will appear in the app. The Venmo community has grown to more than 70 million customers, so this change allows customers to connect and share meaningful moments and experiences with the people who matter most.
Explore and Discover
With the new design, we’ve made it even easier for customers to discover Venmo’s new features and capabilities. Customers will see a new bottom navigation when they open the app, allowing them to seamlessly toggle between their social feed, Venmo products, and their personal profile.
From the ‘Cards’ button, Venmo Credit Card and Debit Card holders can access all of the same controls and features to use and manage their cards and Rewards and Offers, in one easy-to-find place. The ‘Crypto’ button allows customers easy access to explore the world of crypto, view trends in real time, and buy, sell or hold four different types of cryptocurrencies directly from the app.
You and Your Money
Customers can now see a complete view of their wallet, activity and settings from their personal feed. Check balances, view activity and transactions, and manage and track spending all in one place.
Expanded Privacy Controls
The privacy and security of our community have always been top priorities at Venmo, and we strive to provide customers with a worry-free and easy way to spend and manage their money.
Venmo recently introduced additional privacy controls, allowing customers to select a public, friends-only, or private setting for their friends list. Customers can also choose if they want to have their profile appear on other users’ friends lists, or if they’d prefer to stay hidden.
In addition, customers continue to have the ability to add or remove contacts from their friend list at any time. Customers can also choose to block other Venmo customers, which will ensure that the blocked user will not show up in their Venmo network, and they won’t be able to search for them in the app (and vice versa). The blocked user also won’t be able to send or request any payments from the person who blocked them.
As always, customers choose who can see their transactions and payment activity, and can select a public, friends-only or private setting. Customers will continue to have the option to change privacy settings for all past transactions or select different settings for individual payments or as a default for future transactions.
A New Way to Buy and Sell with Confidence
Last month, we shared that we would be introducing new payment types and expanded purchase protections that will enable customers to send and receive payments for goods and services with confidence. This week, the feature will begin to roll out to select customers, allowing both buyers and sellers to transact with peace of mind knowing they may be covered if their transaction doesn’t go as expected. With this new functionality, customers will be able to buy and sell in new and exciting ways – from selling concert tickets to a friend of a friend or purchasing a couch from a local ad listing.
The newly redesigned Venmo app begins rolling out today to select customers and will be available to all customers in the coming weeks. Make sure to download the latest version of the Venmo app on iOS or Android to experience the new app.
